Hello lovelies! Today I thought I'd share with you some of those products that just left me feeling a little disappointed to see if any of you felt the same way, or completely the opposite! This doesn't mean that they won't work for you, but for me they were really just underwhelming products (and yeah that palette is really dirty, whoops!).
ZOELLA CREAMY, MADLY, DREAMY BODY LOTION (£5.00)
When Zoella's collection came into stores, I was super excited to try all of it because there was so much hype around it. However I was pretty disappointed by the whole of the collection even though I loved the packaging. I don't really love the smell of this, it smells quite generic to me (not quite sure how to describe it) and it does make your skin feel quite greasy after only using a little. It's not really an awful product, but there's just nothing special about it and was a bit of a waste of money. Sorry Zoella!
APOCALIPS LIP LACQUER IN ECLIPSE (£6.49)
I know a lot of people rave about how much they love Apocalips but me and this lip product did not get on well at all. A lot of people say it smells unpleasant, and I have to agree, the smell of this really puts me off the product. The consistency is way too wet, so it comes straight off your lips as soon as they come in to contact with anything. It's also really tricky to apply well, so I really got stressed out trying to make this look good on me. Plus it does tend to dry on your lips quite oddly after a while so you really have to re-apply it regularly.
BARRY M SUMMER LOVE EYE SHADOW PALETTE (£6.49)
I bought this palette last year at the end of Summer (limited edition) and it's honestly the worst eye shadow palette I've ever tried because it's not pigmented at all and is very crumbly. It has a really pretty selection of shimmery pastel colours, and a highlighter but these just don't show up on your eyelids at all (especially if you're pale like me). It's a real shame because I love the pretty mint packaging, colour selection and the two little double end applicators that come with it but it's just a little bit useless! I'd love to hear if anyone else has tried any Barry M products that aren't nail related as I'm curious to see if they're a good brand outside of nails.
YES TO GRAPEFRUIT FACIAL SCRUB (£8.00)
If you follow my blog, you'll know I love facial scrubs but this one was really a miss for me. On first impressions I loved this. It smells gorgeous like grapefruit and has this quite sugary texture but when I used this on my face I didn't really see any results at all. It's not an awful product by any means but for the price I paid and the limited results, I was left wanting more.
Thank you for reading lovelies! Have a great Saturday - and don't forget to comment below and let me know what you thought of these products, were you disappointed too?
I bought the Barry M Natural Glow 2 palette and I actually had an allergic reaction to it. I didn't even really know that was possible with powders.

Yikes, that's a really bad place to get an allergic reaction. I have actually found that some eyeshadows have really irritated my eyes though, especially when I wear contacts.
DeleteI've tried another Barry M palette. I think it's the natural glow 2 palette and I quite like it. It comes with a primer instead of a highlighter. I think using a primer might help because it makes it clearer and last longer!
ReplyDeleteEllen,

That's a good point, maybe using a primer would help!
DeleteI haven't tried any of these products before but I was planning on buying Zoella's body lotion
ReplyDeleteI'll see if I like it haha

Check if you like the smell first, but if you do I'm sure you'll probably like it! You just have to make sure you use it in small amounts because it can make your skin feel so greasy.
DeleteI love how honest you are in this post.
ReplyDeleteI've just purchased the Natural Glow Palette from Barry M. I've only used it a handful of times so far & seem to be getting on with it okay. Fingers crossed it stays that same!
I also have the Apocalips in a bright pink which I love - maybe there's ingredients different in my shade that make it weird?

Small&Blonde ♥
Yeah I think maybe this just wasn't a good palette from them simply because the colours are so light! I think maybe because I have such a dark colour it's a bit of a pain, who knows? Thanks for the comment lovely!
DeleteGreat reviews :) I also didn't like Apocalips that much, they just won't stay on my lips. I really love your blog and I am so glad I stumbled upon it :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Followed you on bloglovin. Have a nice Sunday!

Aww thank you lovely, that really means a lot! And yeah it doesn't stay on my lips for very long either!
DeleteGreat reviews! I've been wondering what Creamy, Madly, Dreamy smelled like!

Thanks!
DeleteThis is a really cool post, i haven't tried many of these products. It really sucks about the Zoella one, especially with all the hype! I'm still unsure whether to try it or not.

Yeah, I personally wouldn't recommend it because it's nothing special but if you want to support Zoella, you should get it :)
DeleteI love these kind of posts! I actually like the apocalips but they are quite hard to work with and I had a few of zoellas products and they are not worth the money at all and smell really bland. Such a shame! xxxx
ReplyDeletethechinadolldiaries.blogspot.co.uk
Yeah I was so disappointed with Zoella's collection, especially the Fizz Bar as I really expected to love it!
DeleteApocalips is horrid, I completely agree with you on that! And wow, what a shame on that Barry M palette, I've heard so many great things about the nail polish though.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
Yeah I remember reading your review on it! Personally I'm not the biggest fan of their nail polishes though as I think they're a little overrated, much prefer Rimmel's although Barry M have the best shades!
DeleteCompletely agree about the Rimmel Apocalips, I don't understand the hype, they are so awkward and messy! As for Barry M, it's a shame to hear that about the palette. Their eye dusts and eyeliners are all fab, and I'm a really big fan of pretty much all of their lip products. Their lip gloss wands are actually one of my favourite lip glosses - and I don't even like lip gloss much! I can't recommend their Gelly Hi-Shine Lip Crayons enough, they are ACE!
ReplyDeleteAmanda Jayne / beauty, style & everything else
It's good to hear their other products are good, because this palette really put me of their non nail products in all honesty! And yeah it surprises me that some people really love Apocalips but I guess if you use it in the right way it can look great?
DeleteGosh that eyeshadow palette looks terrible! Such a mess :( haha, thanks for these lovely, I find I always hunt for several blog posts before buying products these days and I really value the negative ones to be honest because they are quite rare!

Yeah it's so hard these days to know who is actually being truthful with you!
DeleteI haven't tried any of these things yet but I loved reading this. You always read a ton about products that are oh-so great but you almost never get to hear about products that were disappointing! xo // Naomi in Wonderland
ReplyDeleteYeah, that is so true!
DeleteI really love your honesty VV and thank you for warning us. I haven't tried any of those you mentioned. Just yesterday, I told myself to not listen to raves on YouTube anymore as they are so not true it's just a waste of money really.

Yeah there are so many products that are sent to youtubers and then get raved about but aren't actually that amazing!
Deleteso sad about the zoella products! i don't think we have them here in Canada but i really wished they would be good for Zoe's sake!
ReplyDeleteI was sad too, they just weren't my cup of tea at all!
DeleteIt's too bad that these weren't very good! Thank you for sharing, though ♥

Perfect Imperfections
No worries <3
DeleteI have to agree with the Zoella products, which pains me! I love the packaging but the products are pretty ordinary x
ReplyDeleteAlways, Alice x
Yeah it's such a shame, I hate being negative about them but they really are just so ordinary! Adorable packaging though!
Deletesorry these sucked lol

Haha that's ok!
DeleteSee, everyone else raves about the Zoella range and I'm not a big fan, at all. I think a lot of people just say it's amazing because they love her, not the product. xx
ReplyDeletewww.kirstytalks.co.uk
Yeah I think that's why they do, because I can't see what people think are so special about them otherwise!
DeleteAhh now I know not to get these.. it really sucks though :(
ReplyDeleteYeah it does!
DeleteI brought Zoella's body lotion and her body mist when her collection came out. I've not used the body lotion much but the mist actually makes me cough it's that strong. So disappointed with them!
ReplyDeleteNatalie Ann xo // Petal Poppet Blogs ♥
Oh that's a shame. I never tried the body mist because I wasn't a big fan of the scent anyway.
DeleteReally love how honest this was without being too harsh! I felt the same about the Zoella products..

Thanks, I tried not to be too harsh, it's just the truth!
DeleteBarry M are crap for makeup, I got their wink eyeliner -ran out in three weeks, a brow pen - makes me look like a scarecrow, and a lipstick - dried my lips out like a desert. I'm not actually surprised about the eyeshadow palette to be honest. I warn you to stay away! x
