Lifestyle | Why I Still Love Blogging

Hello Lovelies! When you start blogging, let's be honest, it's all a little awkward because who knows what the hell you're even doing? You're like an awkward little turtle who doesn't know how to swim, and it's all just kind of weird and exciting at the same time. Then you get into the spin of things, and it's all amazing and you feel on top of the world. And then inevitably there's a slump, let's just say that's where I am right now. I'm at that point where I need to convince myself I love blogging all over again. And you know what I really do, even if I'm less motivated than ever. So let's have a bit of positivity and talk about why I still love blogging.

It's empowering as hell. Having your own little space on the internet is a really cool thing. You can write what you want, create your own style, 'branding' and it's all off your own back. No one is telling you what to do and that's the great thing about it. So many bloggers I love and respect really take this in their stride and blog about taboo topics and raise conversations that just really aren't there in mainstream media. It also does wonders for confidence, at least it has for me. Whilst my blog is hardly successful, I am proud of the fact that I've kept it going and I've pushed myself to write things outside of my comfort zone like The Single Girl Diaries.

The opportunities can be amazing. If you work hard, and really commit to a blog you'll get a lot back. I've absolutely loved working with brands, and discovering lots of new smaller brands too in the process. Events have also been one of the amazing things that have come from blogging because I put myself out there more. Sure I get nervous every time, and sure it can be awkward but every time I'm invited to a blogging event it reminds me how blogging has changed my life. And even crazier that somebody values what I do. Blogging even recently got me my first part time job in social media working for Biiju Jewellery, and that's something I'll always be grateful for.

You learn so much without even realising it. A common misconception is that blogging and social media is easy. Spoiler, it's really not and that's one of the exciting things about blogging. There's such a learning curve and you'll find yourself picking up skills, learning all about SEO and improving skills like photography. It can be frustrating, but whenever I look in to my dreaded archives I realise that so many things have changed, and I've grown so much since I've started.

It's all worth it for the people you meet. It's the thing that baffles me every time I think about it. Like seriously if I hadn't started this blog there are so many friends I never would have made, and people that I wouldn't talk to every now and then on Twitter. You know it's the little things like when your blogging friends get engaged, win awards or get a new job... It's such a nice community. Not perfect by any means, but I wouldn't change it for the world because it's become such a crazily large part of my life.

And that's it, ramble over. Thanks for reading lovelies! Do let me know what you love about blogging and if you've struggled at all with motivation.

  6. I've fallen a bit out of love with blogging lately, but all you say is true. I never would have been able to move to the UK if I hadn't been a blogger in 2007 and met some UK bloggers who would become very good friends and provide a safety net for me to move here. :)

  7. This is really comforting to hear as someone who has just started a design/ creative blog and feel stuck very much in the 'awkward' stage of no one reading it! I think it really does take a lot of self motivation and just making yourself write something - anything - and posting it!

  8. These are all great reasons to love blogging! I think that it's super important to remember why you love blogging, instead of just doing it because you feel you have to ♥
